Deeper Than Sorrow

In Deeper Than Sorrow, I entered the empty swimming pool of my childhood home—a hollow, turquoise space that had long been abandoned and silent. Once alive with laughter and movement, the pool had become a witness to time, its cracks reflecting its longing to reclaim purpose.

To give the pool a voice, I covered its walls and floor with white-painted inscriptions: the names of everyone who had swum there, memories of joy and tension, and poetic fragments from my family. My father wrote a love letter, my aunt contributed the lyrics of a wedding song, and my uncle’s poetry guided my hand.

As the neighboring house was demolished, I worked to preserve this forgotten space, turning it into a living monument to memory and connection. Deeper Than Sorrow explores themes of loss, reclamation, and the traces we leave behind, offering meaning to a space on the edge of erasure.
